Washington, DC (ABC) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said he is hopeful a bipartisan deal to provide more aid to small businesses will be struck today.
Mnuchin said the deal would first go to the Senate and then to the House for ratification.
Mnuchin said more funding for states is not part of the deal, "We're already distributing money to the states. We've distributed about half of the money last week. We will distribute the rest of the money this week."
Mnuchin said states are benefiting from the package because money is going to hospitals across the country.
The Trump administration is working with the federal reserve to establish a program for states and local governments to borrow money.
