Dead body pulled from water

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau Police are investigating after the body of a male washed up on the beach in the 3700 block of North Douglas Highway Thursday night.

Lt. Krag Campbell said the man was approximately 50 to 60 years old.  He did not immediately release the man's name as they seek to find the man's family.

The cause of death is under investigation.

Police said the body was discovered by a resident who was walking near the beach.

Lt. Campbell said the body appeared to have been in the water for several hours.  The body had a laceration across the right cheek but police are not sure if the injury was sustained before going into the water or afterwards.

Police also report that they had contact with the man and knew he lived in a vehicle at Harris Harbor.
