Community build of Project Playground completed, opening expected next month

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Project Playground Community Build at Twin Lakes wrapped up Sunday.

Alexandra Pierce, one of the project managers, and Amy Dressel, one of the volunteer coordinators, were guests on Action Line Monday.

Dressel said everything was successful.  "I think we got done everything we needed to get done, and we got it done early," she said.
She said they had to cancel the Sunday evening shift since there was nothing left to do.

But the facility is not yet open to the public since the contractor still has some work to do.

Dressel said a community opening is planned when that work is completed.  She figures that will occur sometime in September.

The original project playground was built in 2007, but burned down by arsonists in 2017.
