Colorado man arrested in Alaska for DUI and weapons charges

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A Colorado man was arrested over the weekend on weapons and impairment charges after state troopers were tipped off from a Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately, or REDDI, report.

    Troopers received the report Saturday afternoon near Mile 186 of the Glenn Highway.

    A trooper investigation revealed that 47year old Edward Wheeler, of Colorado, was impaired.

    He was placed under arrest, troopers say he refused to provide a breath sample.

    Further investigation revealed Wheeler was a felon and on probation out of Colorado for a weapons offense.

    During the contact, the trooper dispatch says that he had a loaded revolver between the driver’s seat and center console.

    Wheeler was charged with DUI, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, as well as Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 3rd and 4th Degree.

    He was transported and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility with bail set at $100,000 Cash/Appearance and $4,000 Cash/Performance.
