Coast Guard, CBJ, and Other Agencies to Conduct Exercise in Auke Bay

    Juneau, AK (KINY) - This week there may be a bit of a shocking scene as Police and Coast Guard board a tour boat in Auke Bay, but no worries, this is all a part of a training exercise called Shielded Eagle 2018.

    The exercise is scheduled for Wednesday, April 4th and will be a simulation of suspicious acitivity and nuclear threat aboard a passenger vessel. Those participating will be practicing response techniques, with a focus on interagency coordination. The goal is strengthen that interagency relationship and improve security readiness in Juneau.

    Agencies involved include: United States Coast Guard, City and Borough of Juneau, Capital City Fire/Rescue, Juneau Police Department, DHS – Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office (CWMD), Juneau Docks and Harbors, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Community Role Player volunteers aboard the tour boat.

    Again this is an exercise that will be happening on Wednesday, April 4th in Auke Bay.
