Child killed by boulder

    Valdez, Alaska (KINY) Police said a five year old boy died while hiking on July 4th.

    A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers said the child was hiking with his friends and family near the Worthington Glacier when a bowling ball sized boulder rolled off a ledge striking him critically in the head.

    Troopers also reported that life saving measures were undertaken by family members, bystanders and EMS while they awaited for a medical helicopter to arrive.

    The child died after arrival at Valdez Providence Hospital   The investigation into the death continues.
