Chase nabs wanted female

Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) Rhiana Sanford, age 25, was wanted on outstanding warrants before Alaska State Troopers pulled her over.

Sanford drove off from the traffic stop near mile marker 2 of the South Tongass Highway Thursday morning.  The vehicle was stopped for having no license plates.  A computer check of the driver found the arrest warrant

Sanford led Troopers through several streets and traveled at a high rate of speed.  During the chase, Sanford's vehicle spun circles around a light pole and entered the Martin Bugge neighborhood before reaching a dead end on Lode Lane.  Troopers went on to report that Sanford tried to flee out the passenger side door of the vehicle before being arrested.

Charges include failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer in the first degree, resisting arrest, and misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree.  Troopers said they found non-prescribed medication and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Ketchikan Police assisted in the chase.
