Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A neighboring fire department has come to the rescue of Capital City Fire Rescue.

The South Tongass Fire Department in Ketchikan agreed to loan CCFR an ambulance they can use while one of Juneau's ambulances is being refurbished in Washington.

Fire Officials also thanked the Alaska Marine Highway System for helping make it possible.  The AMHS worked with CCFR to get the ambulance delivered to Juneau on short notice and in a cost-effective way.

Fire officials said the system has assisted them in a variety of ways over the years.
