Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting new individuals with COVID-19 in Juneau over yesterday and today.
The EOC reports 12 individuals are positive, 10 residents and two non-residents. Public Health is attributing two of the resident cases to community spread, one to secondary transmission, and the remaining seven resident cases are under investigation. The two nonresidents are in the mining sector.
The State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services yesterday reported the death of a male Juneau resident in his 80s that occurred over the summer and out of state.
That brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths attributed to Juneau to four, two of which occurred out of state.
The Mendenhall Auto Center cluster is currently at 48 cases – 22 are active and 26 have recovered. The cluster associated with Juneau’s vulnerable/unsheltered population is still at 93 cases – five cases are active, 88 have recovered.
Cumulatively, Juneau has had 627 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 108 nonresidents. There are 80 active cases in Juneau and 651 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.
Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services today reports 478 new people with COVID-19 – 477 are residents and one is a nonresident. The state yesterday added four new deaths – three recent ones and the Juneau death – bringing the total number of deaths to 96.
