CBJ Reminds Citizens to Properly Secure Items while Transporting

Juneau, AK (KINY) - The City and Borough of Juneau wanted to remind those who are using trucks and vehicles to carry heavy loads to check that they have been properly secured before entering the highway.

This reminder comes from the CBJ after a young boy was struck and killed by a rock that had fallen off of a truck in Anchorage recently. Commercial and Private truck operators alike are required to verify and secure loads before entering the roadway. This is to prevent items from falling off, blowing away, or generally escaping the containment of the vehicle.

Items falling off of vehicles can create dangerous hazards. Any incident where an item falls off should be quickly removed safely from the roadway.

Those looking for even more information on these laws, please refer to  CBJ ordinance 36.30.070
