CBJ Releases 2021 Juneau Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Report

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The City and Borough of Juneau has released Juneau's 2021 Energy Use and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory.

The report is available online here. It is open for public comment through June 16.

The Juneau Climate Action and Implementation Plan established a goal of reducing emissions by 25% by 2032. The report estimates that Juneau reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 28% since 2010. Although more data points are necessary to establish a definitive trend, CBJ is encouraged by these findings and is committed to working with the community to reduce emissions.

Constellation, CBJ’s consultant for this process, presented the findings of the report at a Juneau Commission on Sustainability public meeting on May 16. The presentation materials are available online.

The report is open for public comment through June 16. To submit your comment, email jcos@juneau.gov by June 16.
