CBJ plans land sale

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) They could receive over $800,000 for the sale of two lots in the Renninger subdivision.

The CBJ will take over the counter offers on the property May 1st.  If two people try to buy the same parcel, a flip of a coin will decide who gets the property.

One lot measures 3.78 acres and will cost $412,000.  The second lot measures 4.38 acres and will cost $382,000.

Lands Department Director Greg Chaney said the lots are located in a nice neighborhood and can be used for various housing uses.

"They are zoned multi family and allow up to 15 units per acre.  They are perfect for apartments or a series of single family homes.  Four other lots were already sold in the subdivision.  Several small homes will be built on one lot.  The Juneau Housing Trust purchased two lots and they likely will also build small homes."

Chaney said there is flexibility in what to build.  For example one lot could accommodate 66 units while the other accommodates 57 housing units.

The over the counter method allows people to look over the property and when they are ready come into the CBJ offices and buy them.  The CBJ tried the sealed bid process on the properties in the past but didn't get any offers.
