CBJ issues COVID-19 update

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau continued to have 14 cases of COVID-19 but only five are being tracked by the Department of Health and Social Services.

    Incident Commander Mila Cosgrove said nine people have recovered from the illness and no longer are contagious.

    There have been 228 tests with 18 pending results.  One person remains hospitalized.

    The drive thru testing site had 10 tests on Tuesday with 22 calls to the hotline.

    There were 110 air travelers through the Juneau International Airport and 51 took voluntary screening on Tuesday.  The increase in traffic was due to returning miners.

    The Rainforest Recovery Center is now set up as an alternate care site equipped with 12 beds and eight cot beds.

    Cosgrove said a fishing boat bringing king crab into the community from Petersburg followed all protocol and conditions when they visited Juneau.
