CBJ getting electric bus this year

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The assembly honored an employee who helped them secure a $5 million grant.

Denise Guizio was praised for going the extra mile in efforts to get grants to expand the Capital Transit electric bus fleet.

In other actions, the assembly introduced an ordinance to spend $233,960 in a grant from the Alaska Energy Authority to use for the purchase of an additional electric bus for Capital Transit.  The bus is scheduled to be delivered to the CBJ in October.

The assembly approved a lease of 1.25 acres located adjacent to the Juneau Arts and Culture Center and Centennial Hall to the state for employee parking.  The current lease wraps up this summer. The lease extension lasts for five years.

The assembly approved a cruise ship berth electrification study on the city-owned cruise ship docks.  Haight & Associates negotiated a $226,895 contract with Docks & Harbors.
