Capital Transit announces some schedule changes

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Capital Transit has adjusted service due to the construction work being done near the Downtown Transit Center this summer.

The  Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities plans to close bus access to the City and Borough of Juneau's Downtown Transit Center due to paving being done in the Egan Drive Improvement Project.

There will be no bus service at the Downtown Transit Center, Franklin and Front Street, or 4th Street beginning Thursday.

Capital Transit will stage buses at the Marine Park Plaza.

Public parking will be closed in that lot until further notice.

The CBJ said passengers should catch the bus at the Downtown Public Library or at the temporary bus stop on Whittier Street.

The changes will continue until work is complete in front of the Downtown Transit Center.

DOT officials said they plan to work in that area through May 23.
