Capital Move Described as "Zombie Issue" by Parish

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau Representative Justin Parish helped bottle up a bill in the last Legislature that called for conducting legislative sessions in Anchorage.

The measure never moved from the House State Affairs Committee. In the event it did, a referral was added to the  House Community and Regional Affairs Committee of which Parish co-chaired. Another bill that called for special sessions to be conducted at other locations was held in Parish's committee.

Even though there's not an immediate threat, Parish said on Action Line that the capital and legislative move issues could very easily come up over and over again. "It's one of those 'zombie issues that came up before I got in office. It'll come up after I get out of office." When host Pete Carran asked what he met by 'zombie' issue, Parish responded, "It won't just seem to die, but it doesn't have a whole lot of zip in its step."
