Cannabidiol products being sold in Alaska

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Cannabidiol (CBD) is an active ingredient in cannabis that comes from the hemp plant. It may help treat conditions like pain, insomnia, and anxiety.

State regulators said products containing cannabidiol are offered in stores and coffee shops but has not been approved for sale.

The Anchorage Daily News reports regulations that govern CBD items are still being written.

The state warned residents to be cautious about what they ingest.

CBD products like gags of gummy bears and vaping pens are displayed at gas stations and other shops across the state.

An industrial hemp bill passed the state legislature this year to create a pilot program to regulate CBD.  Rules are not yet in place.

The state also doesn't have the resources to go out and enforce any restrictions on the sale of CDB products, officials added.
