Busy time for Air Station Sitka

    Sitka, Alaska (KINY) - The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Sitka reported medical rescues in Haines, Skagway and Tenakee Springs in recent days.

    Crews responded with an MH-60 helicopter to Skagway to assist an individual in critical condition.  The patient was flown to Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau for treatment.  Commercial services were not available due to the poor weather.

    Another medical call transported a patient for a medical evacuation from Haines to Juneau.

    A third rescue, this one in Tenakee Springs, assisted the volunteer Fire Department personnel and local EMS.  A 69-year-old woman suffered a leg injury and required medical care.  She was transported to Sitka for treatment.
