Burglary conviction secured thanks to alert neighbor

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - On many occasions, the quality of police investigations are only as good as the information they receive from witnesses.

Good information led to a conviction this week in the case of Brandon Bowhay, 40.

He entered a guilty plea to charges of burglary in the second degree and was sentenced to three years in prison, one year suspended, restitution, and three years probation.

Juneau Police said an alert neighbor noticed a suspicious person leaving a home in the 9900 block of Stephen Richards Memorial Drive on March 7, 2017.

When police investigated they found the home had been burglarized with about $1,000 in property damage done to a rear door to enter into the home.

They recovered several stolen items including a pool stick, a shotgun, a rifle, and two hand guns.
