Burglars interrupted in North Pole

    North Pole, Alaska (KINY) A homeowner came home and totally disrupted the plans of a pair of burglars Saturday.

    Alaska State Troopers report they responded to a burglary in progress call on Hurst Road and found quite a mess.  The investigation found two suspects had entered the residence and concealed their van inside the garage.  They were trying to fill the vehicle with construction material, copper, and tools.  They damaged the home by removing the copper.
    Troopers went on to report that the homeowner came home unexpectedly and the would be burglars responded by crashing through the door of the garage and striking the homeowners vehicle, which left their vehicle disabled.  The two burglars then jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. 
    Troopers said the homeowner was not injured in the incident.  The investigation was ongoing.  The suspects could face charges of assault with a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, and burglary.
