Bullwinkles burglary solved quickly by JPD

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau Police worked fast to recover stolen merchandise and arrest a burglary suspect.

    Willis Austin Ehlers, 37, was charged today with burglarizing the valley Bullwinkles on July 20.

    Police said they recovered the suspect's clothing and all of the stolen items in a wooded area near the restaurant.

    Ehlers was located at a residence in the 4200 block of Mendenhall Blvd. 

    He faces charges of burglary in the second degree, theft in the second degree and criminal mischief in the third degree.

    Ehlers was able to flee on foot from officers who first responded to the burglary call.

    Police said a prize vending machine was broken into, an office was gone through and the tills of the registers were pried open.

    Approximately $5,000 in damages was done to the building and it's estimated around $1,500 in property was stolen.
