Brush fire continues to grow

Tok, Alaska (KINY) A brush fire is measured at 19 square miles in eastern Alaska.

The weather won't help this weekend as the National Weather Service predicted hot, dry and windy weather.  These conditions are ripe for expansion of wild fires.  The blaze is burning 4 miles southwest of Northway and 38 miles southeast of Tok.  It is burning in heavy black spruce.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has shuttled in fire crews with helicopters over the past 48 hours.  The crews cut saw lines, set fire breaks and use hoses, pumps and sprinklers to try and cut down the flames.

There were no reports of homes or buildings being damaged.
