Body Found from Lituya Bay Helicopter Crash

    Juneau, AK (KINY) - A body has been found by authorities that is connected to a helicopter crash that occurred in Lituya Bay where only one 14-year-old boy survived.

    According to Trooper Reports, the body of an adult male was found Monday afternoon on the beach 3/4 of a mile south of the crash site. The body has been identified as 53-year-old David William King of Sutton. King was one of the four passengers thought to have been on the helicopter. The only survivor in the incident was 14-year-old Aiden Pepperd who was last reported to be in the hospital for his injuries. The boy's 11-year-old brother Andrew Pepperd and their father 42-year-old Joshua Pepperd are still missing.

    King's body was transported to Juneau and will next go to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. No foul play is suspected and next of kin were notified.  

    The crash had been reported on September 28th with members of the Coast Guard, SEADOGS, Air National Guard, the National Transportation Safety Board, Civil Air Patrol, and others assisted in the search, rescue, and investigation.
