Body found at Cape Cross

    Yakobi Island, (KINY) The body of an older white male was found floating by fishermen Saturday.

    Alaska Wildlife Troopers reported that the United States Coast Guard received a report of a fishing vessel in the vicinity of Cape Cross on Yakobi Island located the body of a deceased adult male floating in the water about one mile offshore.

    Troopers from Juneau onboard the private vessel Sentry was in the area on routine fisheries patrol and were able to respond and recover the body.  The body was taken back to Juneau and then transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage for an autopsy and identification.

    An investigation is ongoing into the death.
