Boater dies in crash near Tuntutuliak

    Tuntutuliak, Alaska (KINY) - A Kongiganak man died Tuesday after he was thrown into the Tagayarak River after his boat collided with an object in the water.

    Alaska State Troopers said Paul Mute, 57, was operating the boat.

    His passenger, Gabriel Andrew, 58, was also ejected.  He was able to swim to shore but could not locate Mr. Mute.

    Searchers from the nearby village searched the river for two hours and located the body late Tuesday night

    Troopers said the body was sent to Anchorage for an autopsy and the investigation is ongoing.
