Best of Juneau launches today; nominate your favorite businesses

It takes several different pieces coming together to help create something great – and it’s no different when it comes to life in Juneau.

Frontier Media wants to give you the opportunity to nominate those people, places and things you love most about the area.

The search is on for the finest restaurants, realtors, builders and various other categories of local businesses. Only an elite few will be crowned the “Best of Juneau.”

Nominations for the contest opened at today, January 12th and will continue through January 26th. Whether you’re an owner, an employee, a customer or a fan, this is your opportunity to let your voice be heard.

For businesses, it’s a welcome opportunity to get their names on customers’ lips after the challenges of the last two years. Frontier Media President Richard Burns said the timing of the contest couldn’t be better, adding that Best of Juneau presents the perfect opportunity to shine a spotlight on the businesses throughout the region that have endured, innovated and found new and better ways to serve their customers.

“It's time for everyone to take a bow and celebrate all they have accomplished during the toughest economic period in our lifetime. We are champions of small business and we recognize that so many people in our community are connected to small businesses in one way or another, whether it’s people we know that work for them or people who own them,” Burns said. “Best of Juneau provides an opportunity to celebrate those businesses and people who have worked so hard to keep our economy strong and community safe.”

After all nominations are received, voting will begin on February 2nd. Visitors may cast one vote per subcategory and are invited to return every day through February 16th to support their favorite local businesses.
Gold and silver award winners will be crowned in over 150 subcategories, classified within nine consolidated categories:
    ●    Activities and Entertainment
    ●    Business and Professional Services
    ●    Food and Beverage
    ●    General Services
    ●    Home and Garden
    ●    Lifestyle and Beauty
    ●    Medical
    ●    Shopping
    ●    Vehicle and Services

As with any competition, credibility is vital, and so the entire process will be handled by a third party. Partnering with Frontier Media in powering the Best of Juneau program is Elite Insights, a Utah based company that facilitates “Best in Market” programs throughout the United States. "It is because of their extensive background in facilitating programs that Frontier Media partnered with Elite Insights," Burns said.

Winners will be announced on local radio, featured online at, and published in the Best of Juneau winners guide on May 18th.  Frontier Media plans to publish over 5,000 copies of the glossy, full-color volume that will be distributed throughout the community. Along with showcasing the winners, the magazine is designed to serve as a guidebook for both locals and visitors seeking the very best that the area has to offer.
