Beefed up Juneau Police patrols over the 4th of July holiday were busy.

    JUNEAU, Alaska (KINY) - A department release says there were 852 reported incidents from Friday morning until 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

    Several officers worked as part of a grant to target impaired drivers, according to the release.    Police say the public initiated 16 calls on possible impaired drivers.  Two of those calls resulted in arrests and the drivers  being  removed from the roadway,  Four drunk driving arrests were made in all with  officers conducting  62 traffic stops during this time period. Nine traffic accidents were reported.

    Other calls included:

    • 38 Suspicious activity calls;

    • 29 Welfare checks needed;

    • 14 Intoxicated people;

    • 14 Fights in progress;

    • 31 Disturbances;

    • 23 Domestic disputes or assaults;

    • 15 Trespassing issues;

    • 17 Noise complaints;

    • and 37 fireworks complaints.

    In addition to the drunk driving arrests, several others were made.  They included two out of state warrants, six local warrants, six felony charges and 14 misdemeanor charges.
