Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The danger of an avalanche along the Behrends path has been reduced once again.

It came down from extreme to high Sunday morning and was reduced to "considerable"  Tuesday morning.

Although the deep persistent slabs still remain with the potential for large to historic avalanches, City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Programs Manager Tom Mattice says lower loading rates and slightly cooler temperatures will help reduce the likelihood of natural avalanches at this time.

Although the danger is likely to stay that way for a while, he says, possibly for the remainder of the season.
