Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Avalanche danger in the Juneau area has been reduced from high to considerable in Wednesday's forecast issued by the CBJ Emergency Programs Office.
Manager Tom Mattice says they saw a fair number of natural avalanches Tuesday including a notable slide in the Behrends Avalanche Path. He said they could not see into the starting zones to see how large of an area slid and yet there was notable debris in the run out. He added that it definitely was not a large slide, but a great deal of snow and danger still remains in this location.
His latest statement says natural avalanches remain possible today and human-triggered avalanches remain likely.
