Avalanche danger described as moderate

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Avalanche danger in the Juneau area continues to be described as moderate for Sunday.

After 24 hours of mild near freezing temperatures, CBJ Emergency Programs Manager Tom Mattice writes that the snowpack has continued to heal a bit.

In general, he says with the exception of winds the storm slab is healing.  So WITH no snow, mild winds, and cool temperatures in the forecast today avalanche danger continues to be moderate, he says.

Natural avalanches are not likely, according to Mattice, although human triggered avalanches remain possible in places.
