Avalanche danger back down to moderate

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Avalanche danger in the Juneau area went back down to moderate today from considerable.

Conditions have stabilized with several days of calmer weather, according to the City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Programs Office.

It says the storm slab strength is improving and wind slabs have healed a great deal.

So with no snow in the forecast, cool temperatures in place, and greatly reduced winds avalanche danger was downgraded to moderate.

Natural avalanches are not likely and yet human triggered avalanches remain possible in isolated locations, according to the latest posting on the CBJ website.
