ATV accident in Savoonga results in death of woman and arrest of her son

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A Savoonga man has been charged with manslaughter after his mother was killed in the rollover of an all terrain vehicle earlier this month.

    A warrant was issued for the arrest of Felix Wongittilin last week in connection with the accident that occurred on the evening of July 8.

    An Alaska State Trooper investigation determined that Wongittilin was intoxicated  when the ATV he was driving flipped with his mother on board.

    Mary Anna Kulowiyi was  transported to Anchorage with severe injuries.  She died two days later.

    Wongittilin was arrested at his home in Savoonga the day after the warrant was issued.   He was transported to Nome and remanded to the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center on $25,000 bail.
