Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Assembly Finance Committee meets Saturday.
Members will receive an update on the Eaglecrest Gondola. One time funding opportunities will also be discussed.
In a memo from Manager Rorie Watt, members are told that they have the ability to allocate $20 million to $23 million of fund balance. In addition, the one percent sales tax would net $55 million to $65 million if voters approve to extend another five years during this year's local election in October. Watt also says the local government has the ability to incur $25 million to $50 million of debt without increasing the traditional debt mill levy.
Watt also provides a laundry list of projects and programs for which the revenue could be used.
The Finance Committee meeting gets underway at 9 a.m. Saturday. Public testimony will not be taken.
