Assembly considers school funding request

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau Schools requested $1.8 million in additional revenue.

The request is an increase of $279,500 to the contribution amount the CBJ is allowed to fund under the cap.  It would also result in $1.22 million more in state revenue.

The CBJ agreed to fund an additional $300,000 for Kinder Ready.  It was budgeted in fiscal year 2020 but was never appropriated to the school district.

Some of the state money comes from additional student enrollment.

Juneau Schools also received $16,558 from the state's fiscal year 2020 raffle fund.

The total for CBJ revenue is $579,500.

The ordinance will be the subject of a public hearing in April.
