Arrests made in murder

North Pole, Alaska (KINY) Five people were arrested today on charges related to murder and robbery in the death of a 60 year old man.

Alaska State Troopers said Joshua Erickson, 38, Mealani Jones, 36, Jeremiah Kinnish,35, of North Pole and two 17 year old juveniles were all involved in an attempt to rob Charles Baptiste on July 22.  He confronted the suspects and was shot and killed in his residence, troopers added.

Erickson was already on probation and parole for criminal negligent homicide in a Kodiak case.  Jones also had numerous felony convictions.  Kinnish was also on parole for drug charges.

Troopers said the five people were armed when they attempted to rob Baptiste at home at Gianna's Court in North Pole.  Another resident of the home, Wayne Daniel, was also shot, but he survived after medical treatment.  The original report said only two masked suspects had entered the home.

The investigation into the crime continues.  In addition to the Alaska State Troopers, Fairbanks Police, the FBI, and the Drug Enforcement Agency, have contributed to the investigation.
