Arrest made for serious head-on collision

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Andrew Cousins, 59, will face charges of assault in the third-degree with a deadly weapon, DUI, and Assault in the third-degree for an accident New Years Eve, 2019.

    Juneau Police said the two vehicles collided in the 13400-block of Glacier Highway just south of the ferry terminal just after 1 p.m.

    Police said Cousins was driving a Mazda SUV northbound when he failed to negotiate the curve and struck a southbound Chevrolet sedan head-on.

    Cousins was the most seriously injured in the crash.  He was extricated from the vehicle by Capital City Fire Rescue and hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

    The two occupants of the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries.

    Both vehicles were totaled.
