Anchorage Police kill man in shootout

    Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Police are sorting through evidence in a police shooting in East Anchorage.

    A man who fired a gun at Anchorage police was shot and killed by officers returning fire late Wednesday.

    The incident began as officers tried to serve an arrest warrant on the suspect in a parking lot of a Fred Meyer store on Muldoon road.  The man tried to elude police in his vehicle but police boxed the vehicle in.  Police said the suspect pulled a gun and fired several shots at officers before police returned fire and killed him.  No officers were injured.  Anchorage police identified the victim as Thomas Barclay late Thursday morning.  He was wanted on felony assault, weapons misconduct and driving charges. The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.
