On Feb. 22 at 10:00 am, Alaska State Troopers responded to the area of Maude Boyle Dr., in North Pole, where a complainant reported that an adult male was on her porch crying and not wearing any shoes.
When Troopers responded to the area, the male subject had already left the residence and was reportedly walking into traffic and attempting to flag down motorists.
Troopers contacted the shoeless subject in a nearby neighborhood.
Troopers identified the subject and determined through the Fairbanks Probations Office that he was an absconder wanted for Escape III.
The subject yelled at the Troopers and fled on foot.
During a foot pursuit, the subject pulled a handgun from his waistline, and two Alaska State Troopers responded by firing their duty weapons.
The adult male subject was treated on scene by medics for gunshot wounds and transported to a local hospital.
