Alaska reports 27 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, biggest spike so far

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska saw its single-most daily spike in COVID-19 cases on Sunday morning, according to the state's department of health.

    The daily report from the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services found the state added 27 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday morning.

    That means a total of 460 cumulative cases, with 368 recovered.

    The new cases are in Anchorage (15), the Kenai Peninsula (8), and the Mat-Su (4).

    There are 21 non-resident cases that are not counted toward Alaska's total.

    The last major spike was on March 23, with 17 cases.

    Southeast Alaska remains at 57 cases.
