ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — The Alaska Department of Fish and Game says three lynx kittens that were seen around Anchorage were euthanized after their mother was killed.
Alaska’s News Source reported, citing the department, that the mother and one of the kittens were shot by a homeowner defending chickens.
But the department on Thursday says the adult lynx was killed by a homeowner in early September, in what it called a “defense of life or property” situation.
It says one of the kittens subsequently was hit by a vehicle and killed and that the three remaining lynx were captured and later euthanized.
The department cited the condition of the lynx, their age and limited placement options.
