Alaska Aerospace plans new building at spaceport

Kodiak, Alaska (KINY) The building will support launch operations.

The Kodiak Daily Mirror reported the spaceport expects to launch 3 to 6 rockets in 2019.  The demand could increase to 24 launches per year.  One of two of them will be government launches.

Arizona-based Vector Launch, Inc. announced plans recently to test a rocket by spring.

Spaceport officials said they are working with six different companies interested in using the site for launches.

The new building would measure 4,000 square feet and be used to work on rockets and related hardware.
