Alaska adds 1 new case of COVID-19

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services said 379 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the state since the pandemic began.

    The new case is in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. Southeast Alaska continues to have just 50 cases.

    The daily report said 324 people have recovered, 10 have died, and 38 have been hospitalized.

    The level of testing now exceeds 26,000. Commercial labs have tested 10,281 patients, hospitals 8,769, and the Alaska Public Health labs have tested 8,314.

    The report said 906 inpatient beds are occupied with 943 available.

    68 intensive care beds are being used with 127 ICU beds available.

    There are 20 ventilators in use and 324 available.

    The state said eight people are currently hospitalized or a person under investigation for having the virus.

    The state said 17.58% of patients are between the age of 20-29. 19.53% of patients are between the age of 30-39.
