Adair, Dull to be honored by JPD during National Police Week

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Capital City Chapter of the Alaska Peace Officers Association has announced plans for the National Police Week of May 8-14.

    On Friday, May 13, at noon, the CCCAPOA will host the annual police memorial wreath laying ceremony at Evergreen Park Cemetery honoring fallen Juneau Police Department and Southeast Alaska police officers. 

    An inter-agency Honor Guard will lay wreaths at the graves of Officer Richard Adair and Detective Donald Dull. Several speakers will offer short words and prayers for the occasion.

    On Saturday, May 21, the group will again be partnering with local Special Olympics families to host the National Law Enforcement Torch Run at the Thunder Mountain High School track. 

    At 10 a.m., participants will commence with the run. Special Olympics staff provides a kerosene torch that is lit and carried by participants during the run. This is a fundraiser to support local Special Olympics programs.
