Washington, DC (ABC) - Abbott Labs pushed back amid claims its 15-minute rapid tests for COVID-19 are inaccurate.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is now investigating the claims.
In a statement, Abbott Labs said the NYU study, touted by the White House, are falsely clearing patients of the infection.
The company said a Washington State study of 1,000 subjects that showed 91% of positive tests were correct and 100% of negative tests were correct.
Abbott said the ID Now test isn't perfect but has delivered reliable results.
They went on to state the tests were an important tool to help reduce the risk of people contracting the virus.
