4 additional deaths from COVID-19

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health & Social Services reported 113 new cases and four new deaths due to COVID-19 on Sunday.

    Three of the four deaths included in today's report occurred in recent days.  They include an Anchorage man in his 80s, an Anchorage man in his 70s, and a female from Anchorage in her 60s.  The report also included the death of an Anchorage resident in his 70s who died in August.

    New resident cases included 55 in Anchorage, 23 in Fairbanks, five in the North Pole, five in Wasilla, four in Eagle River, three in the Nome Census Area, and one case each in the Aleutians East Borough, Bethel, the Bethel Census Area, Bristol Bay, Chugiak, the Dillingham Census Area, the Fairbanks Northstar Borough, Hooper Bay, Juneau, Kenai, Kotzebue, Seward, Sitka, Tok, Utqiagvik, and the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area.

    The total of resident cases reached 7,481 and the total of nonresident cases total 950. 

    The report also showed 283 hospitalizations and a total of 56 deaths in the state.  It listed 3,173 resident cases as recovered.

    The average percentage of daily positive tests in the past week reached 2.43%.  The current statewide alert level remained high.
