2022 PFD application Period starts on New Year's Day

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The application period for the 2022 Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend starts on the first day of the new year.

Cory Bigelow, the Operations Manager in the Department of Revenue's Permanent Fund Dividend Division, says it will start at 9 a.m. on January 1.

The division encourages Alaskans to apply online and Bigelow explained there are a couple of reasons why.  "First off, the web application can be completed in as little as five to seven minutes in comparison to a paper application which would take quite a bit more time just to fill out."

He adds that an online application is quicker for the division to process.  "So applicants can generally expect a quicker determination," he says.

The initial distribution of online filed applications is scheduled for Thursday, October 6.  Checks for the paper filed applications won't go out in the mail until later in the month.

The application deadline is at 11:59 p.m. on March 31.
