2019 PFD application has several changes

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The application period for the 2019 Permanent Fund Dividend opens at 9 a.m. New Years Day.

Sara Race, the director of the Permanent Fund Dividend Division in the State Department of Revenue, and Administrative Operations Manager Ann  Weske talked about changes to the application while guests on Action Line.

They decided to eliminate a number of forms and simply include those questions on the application.  They say it lengthens the application by about five questions for most applicants.

There will also be a change to the signature page. The officials are encouraging anyone who had difficulties setting up a My Alaska account to try again this year.  They say changes they've made will allow applicants to negotiate that process easier  which includes submitting an electronic signature.  The goal is eliminate the need for applicants to mail in a signature page.

The 2019 application period will further encourage applicants to file on line

Direct deposit for on-line filers will be the first Thursday of October.  It will be roughly three weeks later for those filing a paper application or requesting a check to receive theirs.

The application deadline is at 11:59 p.m. on March 31.
