2018 fire calls down from previous year in Juneau

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Capital City Fire Rescue reports calls were down last year from the previous year.

Assistant Chief Ed Quinto provided that update on Action Line Thursday.  He said the final tally for 2018 was 4,800 calls.

That was down from last year's figure of  nearly 6,000.  He said some of their ambulance calls were down and they don't know why.

The fire department veteran said 2018 was still about average.    When he started with the department years ago, they had less than 500 calls a year.
