There were two wrecks Saturday. One involved underage drinking and the other a motorcycle.

The Juneau Police Department reports receiving multiple calls from people who heard a loud crash near 19-mile Glacier Highway Saturday morning about 6:30. According to a police bulletin, a woman at the scene said, "the driver stayed with the vehicle while an approximately 18 year old male passenger with a minor facial cut had left the area with another motorist."

JPD Sgt. Brian Dallas says, "The investigation revealed that 18 year old Daniel Justin Stevens of Juneau was driving inbound on Glacier Hwy at a high rate of speed when he said he swerved to avoid another vehicle. Stevens over-corrected, lost control, and struck a rock embankment. Stevens had no injuries and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He later provided a breath sample of .146% breach alcohol. Stevens was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center where he was later released on his own recognizance."

The vehicle he was driving, a 2007 Ford Focus, was estimated to be totaled at $4,500.00 damage. The vehicle was impounded and towed. The outbound lane of Glacier Hwy was partially blocked for approximately 1 hour.

The motorcycle wreck with injuries was at the intersection of Mendenhall Loop Road and Keegan Street Saturday night around 9:17.

Juneau Police Sgt. Chris Gifford says, "The investigation revealed a 1992 Subaru had turned left onto Loop Road from Keegan Street. The Subaru crossed in front of a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Although there was no actual collision between the two vehicles, the driver of the Harley Davidson lost control of the motorcycle and laid it onto its side. The motorcycle operator, a 48 year-old man, was transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of apparent minor injuries. The driver of the Subaru, 36 year-old Ryan B. Wiley, was cited for Failing to Yield."

There was about $1,000 damage to the motorcycle. Alcohol was not involved in this incident.
