2 additional cases at Alaska Glacier Seafood

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The number of COVID-19 cases connected to Alaska Glacier Seafoods has reached 38.

CBJ Incident Commander Mila Cosgrove said Juneau now has 64 total cases, 54 recovered, and eight active cases.

The CBJ confirmed 25 non resident cases today.

Cosgrove said one resident of the community who tested positive for the virus spread it to other workers at the seafood facility in early July.  17 contacts were tested and nine tested positive.  Four were Juneau residents and five non-residents.

After that they tested 113 employees and of those 26 tested positive.

Cosgrove said they are hopeful that there was not a lot of community spread from these cases.  She said the main problem was many of the cases were asymptomatic.
